Mrs. Shirley A. Cooper was one of 100 women in the nation to be selected by the Eckerd Salute To Women in the year 2000. She was recognized as a woman who has provided outstanding service within her community. Her award included a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend a "Symposium on Women Volunteers" and a $1,000 check payable to the non-profit corporation of her choice. Shirley is the Administrative Assistant for RICS.
Regional Interfaith Chaplaincy Services of Cranberry Township has been recently chosen as a finalist for the Pennsylvania Governor's Silver and Gold Awards. Regional Interfaith Chaplaincy Services has been recognized by an independent panel of judges for its commitment to enhancing the lives of older Pennsylvanians. Since 1999, RICS has been providing a ministry of spiritual and pastoral care, education, and research to persons living in institutions in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania has joined with Governor Tom Ridge to celebrate and reward older persons and the companies and organizations that serve them. From an overwhelming response for organization nominations, the judge's panel named five finalists in each of these four categories: Promoting Cultural Competence; Enhancing the Image of Older Persons; Innovation; Quality of Life in Long Term Care. Regional Interfaith Chaplaincy Services was not only nominated for a Silver and Gold award but, has been named one of five finalists in the category of Innovation.
As a finalist, they have been invited to a gala event, recognizing all 20 organization finalists as well as 30 individual finalists. This special evening will take place in Camp Hill on October 23, 2001 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center.
Additionally, Regional Interfaith Chaplaincy Services will be profiled in a special video presentation at the awards reception on October 23rd. This video will highlight their special work with improving the lives of older Pennsylvanians.
